2009 CARMA Science SymposiumHosted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

The meeting will be held in the auditorium on the ground floor.
Metered parking (75 cents/hr) is available in the garage adjacent to the NCSA (north side). If you wish to purchase a day pass ($9), you must let us know in advance.
A shuttle service from the conference hotel to the NCSA will be available both Monday and Tuesday, but has limited capacity. Thus, we have asked several participants to serve as "designated drivers". Drivers will receive a parking tag at the Sunday reception or upon arrival at the NCSA Monday morning. Dan Welty and Athol Kemball of UIUC will also assist with rides. Please check the link below if you are staying at the I Hotel.
Sun, 10/18 (5-7 pm): Welcome reception at the I Hotel. If you're still hungry afterwards, or arrive too late for the reception, here are some restaurant options.
Mon, 10/19: Full day of short (15-20 min.) talks with frequent breaks. We especially encourage talks by postdocs and senior graduate students working on CARMA/SZA data. There will be a conference dinner at the Lincoln Room of the I Hotel starting at 6:30pm.
Tue, 10/20: The first morning session will be devoted to presentations on observatory usage by the community and future directions for the observatory, both in terms of science and instrumentation. This will be followed by additional science talks (in lieu of the originally planned data reduction workshop). The meeting will end by 3 pm.
Presentations are welcome on (1) scientific results from CARMA; (2) technical developments (past, present, and future) on CARMA; and (3) CARMA data reduction and analysis. Your title and/or abstract should make clear which category your presentation falls into.
All presenters must register by August 14 (the abstract deadline has passed).
All other participants must register by September 14 (the registration deadline has passed).
The intended audience is current and prospective CARMA users, both within and outside the consortium. Although registration is required, there is no registration fee. There is a charge of $42 to cover the cost of the dinner on Monday night.
Suggestions for those flying from SFO/OAK, BWI/DCA, LAX, or LAS.
Champaign-Urbana is about 2.5 hours by car from Chicago Midway (MDW) and O'Hare (ORD) airports and about 2 hours from Indianapolis (IND). IND is less congested and generally suffers from fewer delays than ORD (also: no toll roads, generally light traffic, and a brand new terminal). Bear in mind that Indianapolis is in the Eastern time zone, one hour ahead of Urbana. If you fly into Chicago or Indy, renting a car with other participants is probably the best option. An alternative is to take the Lincolnland Express bus to IL Terminal, and then the 100S bus to First St. and St. Mary's Rd, where the I-Hotel is located.

Direct air service to Champaign's Willard Airport (CMI) is provided by American Eagle (from ORD-Chicago and DFW-Dallas) and Northwest Airlink (from DTW-Detroit). This option is worth extra consideration if the alternative is to battle rush hour traffic in Chicago! The I Hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to and from Willard Airport. Contact the hotel with your flight information to arrange a pickup.
